Have you ever produced something that took others with the same experience twice as long or would require 2-3 people to produce the same?
Or perhaps you’ve observed it in your own business when looking at the difference between some team members.
Do you ever feel frustrated having to follow up on incomplete tasks or things you consider to be common sense?
This is because not everyone has equal levels of willingness, productivity and ability to make things go right.
Without increasing payroll and headcount, aside from technology and product improvements, the only way to increase revenue and profit is by ensuring you have a team that fits their role and is delivering results.
We have a Performance Index at Performia that is a 1-10 scale.
At the top end you have Performers. These are people who get the expected result without the need for any external pressure, advice or orders.
Performers are critical for your business especially if you’re a growing business.
At the mid point of the scale you have what we call “Doers”. These are people who have some willingness to get things done but require external push, pressure and prompts to get things done.
In roles that are results oriented, you must have Performers or you will suffer the consequences in your revenue and profit, but also your time being stuck in the business.
Other roles that are imperative to have Performers are basically any role where you do not want the person to be reliant on external support to deliver results.
This includes Management, Sales, Project Managers..
The less Performers you have, the more you will be the DRIVER of results and will feel you can’t take time away from the business
And if you have much less effective people overall, then you will constantly feel like you’re carrying the team and business.
My question to you is –
what would happen if you walked out of your business for a month? What about 3?
Is the thought even unfathomable?
