You know from your training that we talk a lot about the importance of honesty in your hiring process which starts right from your Job Ad.

If we hold back in the ad, then only communicate the tougher points later, it will not have quite the same impact since the attraction has already begun.

Recently we helped a client by writing a job ad for them. And given their situation, we had to make the ad super honest and tough, as they had no time to waste and urgently needed the right person.

To enable us in being honest on an even higher level, we decided to post the ad on our Private Advertiser Account on Seek which meant there would be no mention of any company name or branding .

The ad told the candidates right away that they will be thrown in the deep end… and it was going to be tough!

Guess what happened?

The ad got over 80 candidates.

Luckily our client is on the Performia Journey and used their Interspeedia Candidate Management System and Performia Evaluation to quickly assess the candidates’ potential.

That same day, one candidate who completed the Performia questionnaires scored high on performance and personality. She was ready to engage in talks with the owner and she was very outflow oriented.

So if you are struggling, don’t feel you have to go “easier” in your ads. Sometimes you have to go even tougher and discover where the challenge is.
